Terms of use

Short, specific and written in ordinary English. Using FoodieBaba means you are fine with what follows. If you are not, the fix is to close the tab — there is no account to cancel and no subscription to unwind.

What this website is

FoodieBaba is a simulation and a piece of entertainment. It presents 270 dishes and drinks across 18 cuisines in the shape of a food-delivery app, complete with prices, discounts, a checkout and a delivery tracker. None of that describes a real service.

We are not a restaurant, a delivery company, a marketplace or an agent for any of those. No food is prepared, sold, dispatched or delivered by anyone connected to this site, at any time, for any reason.

No food, no orders, no contract to buy anything

Placing an “order” here creates nothing. It is not an offer, an acceptance, a booking, a reservation or a contract of sale. The confirmation screen, the order number and the receipt are props inside the simulation. The courier is a cartoon animal. The tracker is an animation.

The food does not arrive. It is not delayed, it is not lost, and there is no version of the site where it arrives. Nothing you do here entitles you to a meal, a refund, a credit or compensation, because nothing was ever bought.

Payments

We do not take payment and cannot. There is no payment processing connected to this site. The card form at checkout is inert: it is not validated against anything, not transmitted anywhere, and not stored. Prices, totals, delivery fees, tips and discounts shown anywhere on the site are fictional numbers used to make the simulation feel complete.

If you ever see a charge that appears to come from this site, it did not come from us. Treat it as fraud, contact your bank, and please also tell us at hello@foodiebabaa.online.

The recipes, and cooking at your own risk

The recipes are free to read and free to cook. We have tested them and we think they are good. They are provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind, and using them is your own decision.

Specifically, and not as boilerplate:

  • We do not know your allergies or anyone else’s. Check every ingredient yourself, including the ones hiding inside sauces and stocks.
  • Cooking times assume a stove and equipment we have never seen. Judge doneness by the food, especially with meat, eggs, fish and anything reheated.
  • Kitchens contain hot oil, sharp knives and open flame. Take the ordinary precautions; we cannot supervise your kitchen.
  • Nutritional figures shown on dishes are rough estimates for the simulation. Do not use them for anything medical or dietary.

Nothing here is nutritional, medical or dietary advice. If you have a condition that makes food a serious matter, ask someone qualified rather than a website about imaginary delivery.

Your data and your device

The site keeps your tray, history and preferences in your browser’s local storage. You own that data and you can delete it at any time from your browser settings. We hold no copy, so we cannot back it up, restore it or move it to another device. Losing it costs you nothing real, which is rather the point.

The full explanation is in the privacy notice.

Using the site sensibly

Use it however you like, for as long as you like, on as many devices as you like. Two things we would ask you not to do: do not present the site as a real delivery service to somebody who has not realised it is not one, and do not attempt to break, overload or attack it. Beyond that there is very little you could do here that would bother us.

What belongs to whom

The writing, the recipes, the code, the courier characters and the design are ours. Cook the recipes, share them with people, quote us with a link. Please do not republish the site’s content wholesale as your own, and do not use our name in a way that suggests we endorse something we have never seen.

The dishes themselves belong to the cultures they come from, and no one owns those. We have tried to describe them accurately and respectfully. Where we have shortened a dish that traditionally takes hours, we say so on the recipe rather than pretending our version is the definitive one.

No warranty, and the limit of our liability

The site is provided as-is, with no promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, free of mistakes, or correct about anything. It is a free entertainment website run as a side project, and it may change, break or disappear without notice.

To the fullest extent the law where you live allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from using this site or the recipes on it. Since nothing is sold and no money changes hands, there is no transaction to unwind and no fee to refund. Nothing here removes any right you have that cannot be removed by an agreement.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be visible on this page rather than announced elsewhere — there is no mailing list to announce them on.
